Help ReachAnother purchase of an ETV machine and sponsor specialized training for neurosurgeons at the Center of Excellence in Pediatric Neurosurgery hospital in Bahir Dar!
Over the years, generous support from donors across the globe has provided ReachAnother’s Ethiopian medical partners with the safe and necessary technologies and supplies to care for children born with neural tube defects–bringing hope to thousands of families impacted by hydrocephalus and spina bifida.
Since ReachAnother began working in Ethiopia, the insertion of a shunt (draining device) has been the primary technique used to treat patients with hydrocephalus (also known as “water on the brain”) to drain excess fluid and prevent brain damage. While shunts save the lives of babies with hydrocephalus every day, there is another way to achieve the same life-saving results with a minimally-invasive advanced surgical technique that has a lower probability of infection and prevents the need for future corrective surgeries. It is called Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy or ETV.
Your contribution will help ReachAnother purchase an ETV machine and sponsor specialized training for our neurosurgeon partners at the Center of Excellence in Pediatric Neurosurgery hospital in Bahir Dar. The total cost of the ETV machine and specialized training is $50,000. Your donation will expand Ethiopia’s neurosurgical capacity and save thousands of lives!
